There has been an explosion at a building at De Beverspijken on the border of Engelen and Den Bosch. The municipality has plans to receive asylum seekers there. Police investigated the explosion on Sunday evening.

The investigation shows that an explosive was used earlier that weekend, the police reported. The destruction caused glass damage to a window. Someone is said to have noticed the destruction, after which the police were alerted.

A so-called explosives scout was on site to assess the situation. Remains of fireworks and a liquid were also found. The police have secured traces.

The window was later covered with wood to hide the damage.

Previous demonstrations
The building at De Beverspijken 2, a former police station, is located on the De Vutter business park. The municipality announced at the beginning of April that it wanted to accommodate fifty minor refugees there. After the news, demonstrators took to the streets and even the highway several times.

After the announcement, the municipality organized nine information moments for local residents and entrepreneurs from Engelen, but noticed that this was not enough. That is why there is an online information evening on Monday.
