Olivier Aertssen will no longer be leaving Ajax free of charge next summer. The contract of the 18-year-old defender expired after this season. Aertssen is now connected to the team from Amsterdam until the summer of 2025.
Aertssen is considered a talent within Ajax’s youth academy. He currently plays his matches in Jong Ajax, but made his debut in the first team in the cup match against FC Den Bosch (0-2 win).
In 2019, Aertssen exchanged Sparta Rotterdam’s youth academy for Ajax. He played a total of 27 matches for Ajax’s reserves. That team has been led by Dave Vos since last week. He succeeds John Heitinga, who was transferred to the first.
