Bouwbedrijf Buursema in Erm can still expand. A majority of Coevorden city council no longer has an objection to the plans. The Council thus makes a turn of 180 degrees, since the municipality rejected an earlier request for expansion.
The construction company with around two hundred employees came up with the expansion plan almost three years ago. Buursema needs extra space for the storage of construction waste. According to owner Erik Buursema, the nuisance for the neighborhood would be limited: no released substances and relatively little noise.
The municipality previously refused cooperation, because expansion was contrary to the destination page. The storage of construction waste would not be appropriate in the village. Furthermore, the cultural -historical value of the environment would also be affected. On which Buursema was considering moving aloud to New Amsterdam.
In addition, Buursema’s plan came across resistance at the neighbors. A farmer feared that the expansion would mean a limitation for his potato company. But according to Alderman Holties (BBC2014) it emerged in a conversation that the objectioner would prefer to keep his view. Setting up a large barn would not mean any further obstacle to his company. And with that the cold was out of the air in that regard, according to the alderman.
Paulien Blauwgeers van Pac regretted the damage caused by Buursema in her eyes. She was referring to the construction of an earthen wall that Bursoema had installed in 2022. He should have applied for a permit for this. At the time, the municipality stopped the work.
According to Blauwgeers, the work has not been possible good archaeological research, and therefore archaeologically important things have been destroyed. “Therefore, fines were handed out,” she asked Holties. According to the alderman, that did not happen. PAC therefore spoke of rewarding a bad move with adjusting a zoning plan. A comment that was a bit too short.
Most groups saw no further objection to the expansion plans. It therefore goes as a hammer piece to the next council meeting. The zoning plan still has to be changed for Buursema. Local residents can still object to this. From the Coevorder side, it is not there.
