The statistics speak clearly for Glatzel: with his goal in Heidenheim, the striker even broke a historic mark. In his 136th competitive game for HSV, he scored his 81st goal – making him Hamburg’s tenth best goalscorer of all time.
When Hamburger SV plays 1. FC Heidenheim in the second round of the DFB Cup on Tuesday evening (kick-off: 6.30 p.m.), regular goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes will not be guarding the “Rothosen” goal. HSV coach Merlin Polzin confirmed this on Monday during the media round about the game. In return, his backup Daniel Peretz gets his chance in the cup.
“We will change something in certain positions,” explained the coach. “Daniel Peretz will be in goal tomorrow evening. He deserves it because of his training performance and leadership qualities.” The idea for this had been in mind for a long time, says Polzin. Should HSV move into the next round, there could be even more opportunities for the goalkeeper, who is on loan from FC Bayern.
There is encouragement from his competitor Heuer Fernandes, who has been between the posts of the HSV goal in all nine competitive games so far. “‘Ferro’ is happy for Daniel and supports this decision, because although they have a very intense duel for number one, they also have a totally positive relationship,” said Polzin.
