When you think of a private detective, do you think of a man in a raincoat and a hat who observes cheating spouses from his car with a telephoto lens? “The work today involves much more,” says Fanny Cuyvers, the ‘grande dame’ of Belgian private detectives. Together with criminologist Jonas Maas, she provides a glimpse of what the job looks like since the new legislation on private investigation from 2024. “You have to want to do it, even if it means getting out of bed in the middle of the night to go to an assignment.”
