The fans had eyes at the large Formula 1 gala in London on Tuesday for Lewis Hamilton. Many Tifosi hope for a new glorious era for Ferrari, and some observers are also positive. RTL expert Christian Danner, however, warns in an interview with RTL/NTV and Sport.de of hasty optimism.
The hype around Lewis Hamilton knows hardly any limits. On Tuesday evening, the O2-Arena in London felt how much the change from Mercedes to Ferrari’s record world champion moved the Formula 1 world. When the Scuderia hope together with the new racing car entered the stage, the event facility trembled.
While some observers believe that Hamilton will quickly achieve the first successes at Ferrari, Formula 1 expert Christian Danner, who is available again with his expertise, is more skeptical. Christian Danner’s statements can be seen in the video above, which opens instead of the article image.
Mika Häkkinen rated it “very realistic and very analytically”, said Danner in an interview with RTL/NTV and sport.deand thus referred to statements by the world champion in 1998 and 1999, which, given the entire excitement around Hamilton, first of all referred to how quickly the Brit and the traditional racing stable from Italy really grow together.

“We must not forget that the Formula 1 event took place on Tuesday in the heart of London,” Danner also ordered the hype around the former Mercedes man. “Hamilton is a seven-time world champion from the United Kingdom, and that’s why the euphoria was of course correspondingly great,” continued the RTL commentator.
Formula 1: Danner warns Lewis Hamilton
The 40-year-old then “bathed in the euphoria, as we know it,” said Danner, adding to Hamilton as a warning: “But reality is very quick.”
First, in the form of Charles Leclerc. The new teammate “will certainly not make life easy for him because it is very good and very quick,” emphasized Danner.
Secondly, “Ferrari is not England,” recalled the 36-time Grand Prix participant and added: “Lewis has to get used to it first.”
In Italy, despite all euphoria, “differently judged when Lewis was used to it,” Danner sent a further warning to the record champion. At Mercedes, he was “packed in cotton wool in the United Kingdom”, but in the Italian gazettes it could quickly look different if the success failed.
In addition, Danner referred to Sebastian Vettel, who had to feel at Ferrari between 2015 and 2020 that it did not continue (as before at Red Bull, where he became a world champion). The German did not drive the longed -for title at Scuderia and became “only” vice world champion twice.
“He too was highly motivated. And he spoke fantastic Italian and also started winning at Ferrari right away. And it didn’t work out,” said Danner. His conclusion: “It’s not that easy for Lewis.”
