Former professional boxing world champion Julio César Chávez Jr. has been arrested in the USA because of the allegation of illegal entry and is to be deported to Mexico. In his homeland, the Mexican threatened the Mexican for organized crime, as the Ministry of Homele Protection announced.
According to the AP news agency, his lawyer said that the case also reported that Chávez was arrested by a larger number of civil servants in front of his residence in a district of Los Angeles. He currently does not know where the 39-year-old was held. A court date is scheduled for Monday.
Just defeat in the ring
“Nobody is above the law under President Trump – even world -famous athletes. Our message to all cartel members in the USA is clear: we will find you and you will have to expect consequences. The times of unbridled antitrust power are over,” wrote the Ministry of Homeland Protection in a post at X.
The arrest on Wednesday by official from the US authority ICE, which is responsible for arresting and deporting migrants in the United States, took place only a few days after the former middle weight world champion was defeated in Anaheim/California against the American Jake Paul.
According to AP, officials from the Immigration and Customs Authority Chávez had arrested his tourist visa expired in February 2024. According to the government, the son of multiple world champion Julio César Chávez Senior is said to have applied for a green card on April 2, 2024 based on his marriage.
Serious allegations against the boxer
The officials also reported that an arrest warrant against Chávez was available in Mexico because of his alleged participation in organized crime and trade in firearms, ammunition and explosives and that it should presumably belong to a notorious cartel. So far there are no statements by his lawyer about the allegations.
The US immigration authority had already described Chávez as “an outrageous threat to public security” last year. Nevertheless, he was allowed to enter again on January 4 of this year, according to the authority.
