Ex-world champion Markus Eisenbichler ended his ski jumping career with his last leap in Planica. Now he has more time for other sports and hobbies.
The last appearance as a ski jumping professional was again a very special one. With his wide sentence, Markus Eisenbichler secured the DSV team second two weeks ago when skiing in Planica.
From Planica to the district class
After the final landing of his great career, Markus Eisenbichler drove out into the middle of the team -mate’s champagne shower in the middle of the armed shower, his species from home had cheated into the run with posters and finally carried her “ice egg” on his shoulders: incredibly emotional and again with two dream flights one of the best German ski jumpers in history has been retired – with second place Team flying from Planica ended a famous career.
Eisenbichler only announced at the beginning of March that he would end his career.
The advantage: Now the six -time world champion has more time for other sports. As “Heimatsport.de” reports, the 34-year-old went into the training of the soccer team TSV Siegsdorf after his farewell in Planica. There he is an integral part of the 3rd team in the C-Class. In the 2: 2 against ASV Piding II on April 4th, it was also used directly.
But now it’s another sport. It went on an active vacation with friends – first to Norway.
“After the season I fly to Oslo and go cross-country skiing with my cross-country skiing spezln like Lucas Bögl. Then I make ski tour with my friends from Chamonix to Zermatt. The ten days will be exhausting, but I like that,” said the German record world champion in the “kicker” a few weeks ago.
A lot of ski tours – and then work as a trainer?
In any case, after the farewell to competitive sports, he will “go ski tours, cross-country skiing, go uphill, which I just like to do. And then maybe more excessive,” he announced. “Hopefully I have around 50 years before me that I want to enjoy.”
However, he would “remain in the ski jumping,” emphasized Markus Eisenbichler
When asked about a possible coaching career in ski jumping, he told the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “First of all, I work with the police. And as far as the coach is concerned, I don’t want to rush anything now, maybe a year or two are quite good.”
