The 22-time national player Kevin Mbabu is returning to his native Switzerland after around three and a half years: the 27-year-old is moving from Fulham FC to Servette FC on a loan until the end of the season. What initially the “Tribune du Geneve” and Fabrizio Romano reported, the Super League club officially announced on Monday. In Switzerland, the transfer window is open until February 15.
Fulham only signed Mbabu in the summer for 5.5 million euros from VfL Wolfsburg and gave him a contract until 2025. So far, the defensive player has only played 230 minutes in seven games. Since the restart after the World Cup, for which he was not nominated, Mbabu has not been called up to the “Cottagers” squad.
With Waldschmidt, Kruse & Co.: The most expensive additions to VfL Wolfsburg
22 Ridle Baku | 20/21 from Mainz 05 | Transfer fee: €10 million
The defensive man left Servette in January 2013 at the age of 17 after half a professional season for Newcastle United. In 2016, the BSC Young Boys brought Mbabu back to Switzerland, where he developed into one of the best players in the league and, after two championship titles and the Transfermarkt award as player of the 2019 season, made a €9.2m move to Wolfsburg recommended – to this day the fourth most expensive departure in the history of the Bernese.
