It was only in February that Bryan Braman got a cancer diagnosis. He got operated on several times, got chemotherapy. But after less than half a year, the former NFL professional lost the fight.
The NFL family mourns the loss of Bryan Braman. The former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles line backers died at the age of only 38.
As his agent Sean Stellato announced, Braman succumbed to a rare, aggressive cancer. He received the diagnosis in February. He then underwent several operations in Seattle.
To support his treatment costs, a Gofundme campaign was launched, which brought in over $ 88,000. Among the donors was also ex-Texans teammate JJ Watt, who contributed $ 10,000.
In an interview with the US broadcaster KPRC 2, Stellato recently expressed hopes. Braman stands for strength, resistance and leadership – and embodies these values even in its most difficult phase. “He fights the struggle of his life,” said Stellato. But Braman has now lost this. He leaves two daughters aged eleven and eight years.
His greatest sporting success was the win of the Super Bowl Lii with the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2018. With the Eagles, he defeated Tom Bradys New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. The triumph was also his last game in the NFL.
Braman played a total of seven years in the league – from 2011 to 2017 – initially with the Texans, in 2014 he switched to the Eagles.
Stellato said about Braman’s struggle against the disease: “The main problem is that Bryan could not recover from the interventions because his immune system was weakened by the treatments. Until he recovered and was able to continue chemotherapy, cancer grown exponentially and grew around its vital organs.”
Weeks ago, Stellato had already reported that Braman inquired about other therapy options despite restricted treatment options – and did not want to give up.
After the news of his death, JJ Watt also reacted and wrote on social networks: “Quiet in peace, brother. Gone far too early.”
