After his farewell to Bayer Leverkusen, Jonathan Tah is probably about to switch to Bayern. According to the latest media reports, the Munich residents even want to sign the central defender to the club World Cup (June 14th to July 13th) in the United States, which would also result in a transfer request from Leverkusen. Ex-FCB star Jérôme Boateng has no doubt that the German international will make it a regular at FC Bayern.
“I am absolutely convinced of him and see him positively. In the past two years, he has taken another step again and has reached a new level. You have noticed that he learned a lot under Xabi Alonso,” said the 2014 world champion in an interview with “Sport1” about the defender, with whom he worked together in the German national team for some time.
Tah recently announced his farewell from Leverkusen after ten years at Werkelf, his initial professional steps and Jérôme Boateng had gone at Hamburger SV.
“I absolutely trust Bayern. He would be an enrichment and can become head of defense,” said the 36-year-old about Jonathan Tah, who won the double from the championship and DFB Cup with Bayer Leverkusen last year.
Boateng knows: “It can only be done through performance”
Boateng himself was considered a defense boss at the Munich team in the 2010s and therefore knows exactly what requirements Tah would have to meet with the German record champion: “It is only possible through performance. Bavaria is enormous competition. You have to assert yourself and you can then become the defense chief. You don’t always have to be a loudspeaker.”
Born in Berlin, the FC Bayern became German champion nine times, won the DFB Cup five times and won the Champions League twice.
