The Austrian football club SCR Altach is rocked by a scandal. A former official is said to have filmed the players in the locker room.

A Swiss referee and former club official is said to have secretly filmed players in the women’s team of the Austrian first division club SCR Altach in the locker room. The association confirmed the investigation, which is said to have begun at the beginning of October. The case became public last Tuesday.

Managing director Christoph Längle told ORF that they were completely surprised by the allegations and that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing, said Längle. People in the club are deeply affected.

According to ORF, the State Criminal Police Office has started the investigation. The suspect is currently at large. The club and the police did not want to provide any further information to protect those affected.

As the Swiss newspaper “Blick” reported, the man is said not only to have held an office at SCR Altach, but also to be active as a referee in Switzerland. According to the newspaper’s research, he was used in several games in the Swiss leagues in the current and last season.

The Swiss Football Association (SFV) confirmed to the newspaper that it was aware of the case. “As this is an ongoing procedure, no further information will be provided,” it said in response to a “Blick” request. “The person affected by the allegations has asked not to be called up for games or missions until the matter has been fully clarified. The presumption of innocence applies,” the SFV continued.

At SCR Altach they want to learn lessons from the case and, for example, in prevention. They want to revise the concept and train the training and support staff on the safe sport principles.
