Ex-Oasis guitarist Paul Arthurs has been diagnosed with cancer

Oasis guitarist Paul Arthurs announced via Twitter that he had to take a musical break. The reason for this is a recently diagnosed tonsil carcinoma, a cancer originating from the tonsils, which he is now having treated.

The cancer is “treatable”

Arthurs, nicknamed “Bonehead” due to his balding early in life, shared the news on Tuesday (April 26). Despite the diagnosis, the guitarist is hopeful on social media: “The good news is that it’s treatable,” he writes, declaring that therapy will begin soon.

He would inform his fans how the situation is developing. He was particularly disappointed not to be able to go on tour with colleague Liam Gallagher as planned. “Have a nice summer and enjoy the concerts if you go,” writes the 56-year-old and announces optimistically: “We’ll see each other again soon”.

Liam Gallagher also hopes for a “quick recovery”

Liam Gallagher wished the musician a “speedy recovery” on Twitter and expressed his condolences to him and his family. The Oasis lead singer also gave him friendly encouragement by announcing that he’d be back on stage before he could say “r we doing Colombia.”

Arthurs and Gallagher look back on a long friendship and common career: At that time “Bonehead” founded the band Rain and asked colleague Liam Gallagher to join the group as a singer. This moved the four remaining members to change the name to Oasis.
