Jogi Löw is also in demand four years after his end as a national coach. Now he got the offer to take over a World Cup debutant. But nothing becomes of it.

Former national coach Jogi Löw dropped out an offer as a national coach-despite a secure World Cup participation in 2026. The reports of Uzbek media, the Austrian platform “OE24” and “Bild”. Accordingly, the Football Association of the Central Asian Land wanted to sign the German World Champion coach of 2014.

Uzbekistan, currently in 55th place in the FIFA world rankings, has qualified for a world championship for the first time and is planning to set an exclamation mark at the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

As the “picture” explains, there was actually a specific request. Even the Uzbek embassy in Berlin is said to have switched on. Löw seriously thought about the task for a few days, but there was no meeting with the association managers. In the end, the 65-year-old politely canceled.

Whether Löw still goes to the World Cup with another national team remains open. He recently reported several inquiries and made it clear that despite his age he did not want to end his coaching career. In April he had emphasized on Pay TV broadcaster Sky: “Basically, I said, I don’t want to say goodbye now if there is another interesting offer where I say is a good perspective.” From Löw’s view in Uzbekistan, this was apparently not the case despite the World Cup premiere.

After the round of 16 at the European Championship 2021, Löw had resigned as a national coach and has not returned to the sidelines since then.
