Center forward Andy Carroll, without a club, is expected to join English second division club West Bromwich Albion by the end of the season. According to consistent reports from the newspaper, “DailyTelegraph” as well as the portal “The AthleticThe 33-year-old completes a medical check-up with the Baggies on Friday.
Carroll was last under contract for two months between November 2021 and January 2022 with league rivals FC Reading, who temporarily signed the veteran due to injury-related absences on the offensive. Previously, Carroll’s working paper at his training club Newcastle United expired in the summer of last year and was not renewed. At Reading he made eight appearances and had three goals (2 goals, 1 assist).
Once one of the Premier League’s most valuable attackers, with a market value of €20m in 2011, Carroll would be making his sixth professional appearance at West Brom. The second division team, which is playing for promotion in the championship, had already signed the American Daryl Dike from Orlando in Carrol’s position in the current transfer window for a fee of 8.64 million euros, but the 21-year-old falls with one Thigh injury likely to be out until March.
