Ex-governor of St. Petersburg Yakovlev was hospitalized with COVID-19

Former governor of St. Petersburg and president of the Russian Union of Builders Vladimir Yakovlev was hospitalized with a coronavirus infection. About this, as conveyed TASSAnvar Shamuzafarov, vice-president of the union, said.

“Today, Vladimir Anatolyevich Yakovlev was supposed to chair our meeting, but the situation turned out to be such that, unfortunately, he fell ill with the coronavirus. He was hospitalized,” he said.

Vladimir Yakovlev was born in 1944 and served as governor of St. Petersburg from 1996 to 2003. From June 2003 to March 2004, he was Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, in 2004-2007 – Minister of Regional Development. In 2009, he headed the Russian Union of Builders.

At the end of January, two Russian governors announced the coronavirus at once – the head of the Vologda Oblast Oleg Kuvshinnikov and the head of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss. Both of them worked remotely during their illness. On January 27, Uss announced his recovery. According to him, he contracted COVID-19 during a business trip to Moscow.
