Ex-FC Bayern coach Nagelsmann candidate at PSG – With Henry as Co

Discussions scheduled in a timely manner

He canceled Chelsea and even at Tottenham Hotspur Julian Nagelsmann seemed at times to be out of the race of his own accord – the next club associated with the ex-Bayern coach is Paris Saint-Germain. “Foot Mercato“ from France and a short time later also the newspaper “L’Equipe” reported on Sunday that the PSG bosses from Qatar around Nasser Al-Khelaïfi identified the 35-year-old as a top candidate to succeed Christophe Galtier.

Fabrizio Romano, who was the first to report the separation of Bayern from Nagelsmann in the spring, then wrote that there had been internal discussions at PSG about the German. In the coming week, however, a final decision will only be made as to which trainers will be specifically addressed. The fact that Galtier, who was only brought in in 2022, has to go despite the twelfth French championship, a record in Ligue 1, has been certain for weeks.

According to reports, Nagelsmann’s start in France could be made easier by an assistant coach with a big name: Thierry Henry is the ideal solution for this position. The 45-year-old former world and European champion has head coaching experience at AS Monaco and CF Montréal, albeit not particularly successfully. What qualifies him much more, however, are his three and a half years as assistant coach to Roberto Martínez in the Belgian national team.

If PSG wants to come to an agreement with Nagelsmann, they also have to hold talks with his former club from Munich. The football teacher is only on leave there and still has a contract that is valid until 2026, his potential new club would very likely have to pay a fee to the German record champions. In turn, he had paid the coaching record sum of 25 million euros to RB Leipzig in 2021.
