Ex-Bundesliga coach: Tedesco takes over the Belgian national football team

Domenico Tedesco is the new coach of the Belgian national football team. Tedesco, who last worked at RB Leipzig, will receive a contract until 2024, as the Belgian association announced.

As the successor to Roberto Martínez, the 37-year-old Tedesco is to lead the “Red Devils” to the European Championships in Germany. The first qualifier takes place on March 24th away in Stockholm against Sweden. Four days later, Belgium plays Germany.

“It’s a great honor for me to be the new head coach of Belgium”Tedesco is quoted as saying in an association statement: “I’m really looking forward to the task and I’m extremely motivated. I had a very good feeling from the first interview.” After head coaching positions at RB Leipzig, Spartak Moscow, Schalke 04 and Erzgebirge Aue, the engagement in Belgium is Tedesco’s first job as national coach.
