Salzburg (AP) – Werder Bremen’s former captain Zlatko Junuzovic ended his football career as a player.

The 34-year-old announced on Friday that he was moving to Austrian second division club FC Liefering as an assistant coach. The club is the cooperation partner of Junuzovic’s previous club RB Salzburg. “I have now made the decision to end my career as a professional footballer, not with a light heart, but full of anticipation,” he said.

The ex-Austrian national player switched to Salzburg in 2018 after more than six years at Werder Bremen and had won the league and cup double with RB four times in a row. The midfielder was out for a long time last season due to injury. His contract, which expired at the end of the season, was not renewed.
