Former Belgian road bike master and tourist winner Ludo Dierckxens is dead. The 60-year-old collapsed on Thursday while participating in a charity race in Dender Monde, the “1000 km against cancer”, and died.
“The ambulance service was very quickly on site and carried out a heart-lung reanimation. Unfortunately, Ludo could not be saved”the organizers said in a statement. In 1999 Dierckxens won the Belgian master jersey within a few weeks and then won the 11th stage of the Tour de France as a soloist.
Doping lock shortly after double success
A few days after his coup, however, he was suspended by his team because of the taking of a cortisone -containing medication without a medical prescription and no longer started at the 15th stage. After a half -year lock, Dierckxens returned to the cycling circus, he was a cycling professional from 1994 to 2005. In addition to his combative driving style, his bald head was his trademark.
