Ex-Bayern star James Rodríguez without a club: contract in Brazil terminated

Former Bayern star James Rodríguez is without a club again. Once again one of his engagements was short-lived.

He was once considered a top star, but James Rodríguez is now known more as a wandering bird in international football. He only signed a contract in Brazil in the summer of 2023. But the adventure at FC São Paulo came to an end just six months later.

Rodríguez is said to have left the club at his own request. He played 14 games for the team. He managed a single hit. Recently, the Colombian no longer played a role at his club. Officially due to “load control”. But: In the national media this is considered a synonym for being overweight.

São Paulo was James’ fourth club since his stint at FC Bayern. He played for Munich between 2017 and 2019, winning two championship titles and the DFB Cup once. Bayern had James on loan from Real Madrid.

James’ best time as an active footballer was around ten years ago. At the 2014 World Cup he was able to impress with his home country Colombia. In the end, the 32-year-old became the tournament’s top scorer with six goals. His goal against Uruguay was also named the best goal of the competition. Real Madrid then paid 80 million euros to AS Monaco for James’ services.
