Ewan McGregor condemns racist attack on Moses Ingram

Ewan McGregor tweeted his dismay at the racism meted out to “Obi-Wan Kenobi” actress Moses Ingram on social media.

Moses Ingram previously revealed that since the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which she plays the protagonist Reva Sevander, she has received hundreds of racist messages.

“It broke my heart”

Now McGregor addressed his followers with a video message. The actor was deeply shocked by the racist incident:

“It seems that part of the fandom has decided to attack Moses Ingram online and send her the most horrific, racist direct messages. I heard some of it this morning and it broke my heart,” McGregor said in a new video on the Star Wars social media accounts.

“Moses is a brilliant actress. She is a brilliant woman. And she’s absolutely fantastic in this series. She brings so much to the series, she brings so much to the franchise. And I’m just uncomfortable that that happened,” he continued.

“I just want to say as a lead actor on the show and as an executive producer on the show, we stand by Moses. We love Moses. And I don’t think anyone who sends her bullying messages is a ‘Star Wars’ fan. There is no place for racism in this world. And I stand by Moses wholeheartedly.”
