Durea shoes was founded in 1913 under the motto “A suitable shoe for everyone”. The brand, which belongs to the Dutch family company Van Drunen Schoenfabriek, develops tailor-made shoes for everyone. The craftsmen create a unique last, adapted to the length and width of the foot, as well as the fit and model. Beautiful and practical shoes that also fit perfectly.
origins
Gijsbertus van Drunen from the Van Drunen shoe factory was the founder of the family business. He later passed on all his knowledge about feet, shoes, lasts, his passion for shoemaking and his love of feet to his son. Durea shoes are made by experienced shoemakers. The Van Drunen family controls the entire production process of the shoes, from design to manufacture.
evolution
In 2018, the Van Drunen family announced they were changing the company’s name from Durea to Van Drunen Schoenfabriek, and managing director Peter Van Drunen said goodbye to the brand. Van Drunen Schoenfabriek has also launched a third label of its own: the women’s shoe label Lerora. The name is composed of the names of the daughters of the current generation of Van Drunen’s: Anne-Lene, Roos and Mira. To celebrate Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh’s 165th birthday, Van Drunen Schoenfabriek has collaborated with designer Tomas Snels to create the Van Gogh Sunflower Shoe.
Durea combines beautiful colors with noble materials in his shoe designs. In 2011, the family business was awarded the Gouden Koe (Golden Cow), an award that honors a Dutch person or company each year for their contribution to the shoe and leather industry.
Current
Durea’s diverse shoe collection is available online and in more than 200 points of sale in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Van Drunen Schoenfabriek has three own labels: Durea, Lerora and GIJS.
