Lala Berlin is a contemporary ready-to-wear and accessories brand known for its urban clothing style with a subtle free spirit twist and a cosmopolitan approach to fashion.
origins
“Founded in Berlin, rooted in the world” – that is the motto that the label pursues with its fashion. Born in Tehran and raised in Berlin, creative director Leyla Piedayesh founded the brand in 2004 with the vision of creating a brand that represents an international way of dressing. The label initially started with knitwear but soon added a full ready-to-wear collection and accessories. Since its foundation, Lala Berlin has been a constant factor in the local Berlin fashion scene as well as on the international market.
development
Heritage, community and responsibility – in German roots, community and responsibility – are the pillars on which the concept of Lala Berlin is based. The brand strives to celebrate the diversity of all people while advocating togetherness. The community spirit at Lala Berlin begins with its own employees and ends with the customers – because the company pursues a holistic approach, which is also intended to promote a more sustainable form of production and consumption. The label strives to bring fewer but better products into circulation. The brand is known for its urban styles with a sophisticated touch – the collections often feature designs with prints and patterns, such as the Arabic kufya print, colorful knitwear, as well as dresses and skirts with loose fits and flowing silhouettes. Piedayesh is often inspired by her own roots and uses her designs to explore her Iranian culture, her German upbringing and the general concept of cosmopolitanism. The brand currently operates its own stores in Berlin and Copenhagen.
Current
Over the years, Piedayesh has become a role model for women in entrepreneurship, often sharing her experiences and knowledge in the form of interviews, or at fashion industry discussion boards. In June 2022, Lala Berlin launched its own resale platform to support a more sustainable fashion industry. The platform called “Lala Forever”, on which the customers’ already worn items of clothing are offered, has its own area in the brand’s online shop.
