Everything But The Girl have released the second song, “Caution To The Wind”, from their upcoming album “Fuse”, which will be released on April 21st. On January 10th, they reported back with “Nothing Left To Lose” and the announcement of the new record for the first time in 24 years.

“Lyrically, ‘Caution To The Wind’ is a simple song about arriving and capturing the moment, with the music we tried to capture that sense of a perpetual moment in time,” explained Singer Tracey Thorn. “I just break the words down and repeat,” added multi-instrumentalist Ben Watt. “The drums emerge and repeat, after which it all unfolds in cycles of anticipation and redemption. I guess it’s just classic club tension and euphoria.”

The duo split up in 2000 after the release of the album Temperamental the year before. “We wanted to come back with something modern sounding. We’re not interested in playing any ‘best of’ concerts or arena shows with our legacy. We just wanted to make a track that sounds good today in 2023. That was the drive,” Watt said in a January interview with the “NME‘ about the comeback.

Everything But The Girl was formed in 1982, followed two years later by their debut LP “Eden”, which was heavily influenced by jazz. As a sophisti pop band, they have evolved into more electronic sounds over the years. They celebrated their peak with “Missing” in the mid-90s. FUSE will be their eleventh album overall.
