The Dutch State insures more than 5 billion annually in payment risks of export transactions and foreign investments by Dutch companies. The State is actively committed to preventing bribery in these transactions. At the request of the previous government, the anti-bribery policy was evaluated. This evaluation focuses on the effectiveness, practical implementation and transparency of the anti-bribery policy, and was sent to the House of Representatives today by State Secretary van Rij, also on behalf of Minister Schreinemacher.

In 2018, the anti-bribery policy was further tightened up in line with the applicable international standards. The researchers recognize this and conclude that the policy has indeed been tightened up, but also note that a concrete risk framework is still lacking in the current policy and that certain procedures need to be standardized even more. For example, the process descriptions and work instructions are fragmented and it is recommended to set up recurring training for employees. The researchers also see opportunities for improvement for both internal and external communication.

The government considers it important that the anti-bribery policy on export credit insurance is in order. In order to ensure that the recommendations from the evaluation report are taken up, an anti-bribery task force has been set up, together with the implementer Atradius Dutch State Business. This autumn, the cabinet will present an action plan incorporating the recommendations.
