Eva Simons went to a clinic two years ago to kick the habit of drinking and drug addiction. In a candid conversation with RTL Boulevard the singer told tonight that she experienced a jet-black period a few years ago in which she no longer recognized herself.
“You’re in a certain scene, you go way too fast, you don’t sleep and one drink leads to another and before you know it you’re drinking every day,” the 38-year-old singer revealed on the show program. . ,,At a certain point, those drugs come in, you’re on the drugs and you’re really addicted. I completely lost myself.”
Two years ago, the singer of hits like This is Love and Take Over Control to go to a clinic for help. “I’ve been there for two years now and they just saved me,” says Simons. “When I came out it was like: hey, finally, there is still light, I can continue.”

The birth of her daughter Rosie in March of this year makes Simons very grateful. “I like it so much, really great. I wouldn’t have missed it,” she says. “I needed it too. She saved me. If she wasn’t there, I would rebel again and now I have a responsibility and I needed it.”
The reason for the conversation is a work of art by Studio Giftig that is based on the life story of Simons. The work was unveiled on Monday and can be seen at Straat, a museum for street art in Amsterdam.
