The rumors have been going on for a while and now the high word is out: Eva Jinek is indeed leaving her current employer RTL 4. From the beginning of 2024 she will be working exclusively with AvroTros, where she has signed a four-year contract. “The basis of the collaboration is a new program to be developed in which current affairs and culture are central.”

Eva back to NPO

It seems that they are pre-sorted for a De Wereld Draait Door-like program on the old time slot of the talk show: every evening at 7 p.m. on NPO 1. In terms of prestige, a big step up compared to the late evening of RTL 4, but in terms of salary a mega step back: she goes from 1.2 million euros per year to about two hundred thousand euros per year.

AvroTros boss Eric van Stade is very happy with it. He has been aiming for his own talk show for some time, since his broadcaster does not participate in Op1 either. “AvroTros has the explicit wish to present a distinctive program based on current events and culture.”

Own talk show

Eva can carry such a program perfectly, he thinks. “Eva has more than proved that she can carry such a program with verve. That’s why I approached her to ask if she was open to a return to public broadcasting. Her arrival is an enrichment for AvroTros and public broadcasting in general.”

What does Eva herself say about it? She says in the press release: “I look back with great pleasure on the past few years at RTL. The whole period was adventurous and also very educational. Now it’s time for something else.”

Very enthousiastic

Despite her salary drop, Eva is incredibly positive. “When AvroTros asked me to return to public broadcasting to develop a program with them in which I can give a place to both my journalistic side and, above all, my heart for culture, I immediately became enthusiastic.”

She continues: “We are very excited to inspire the viewer with this. We will work out the plans for our collaboration in detail at a later date, but first my baby comes and I am of course very much looking forward to that now.”
