After years and years of attempts, NPO 1 has finally managed to find a worthy successor to De Wereld Draait Door in terms of viewing figures, namely Eva Jinek. Her talk show Eva captivates many viewers, but can she also come close to Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s program in terms of content? No, says media columnist Mark Koster.

It is now time to take stock, says Mark. “Is Eva Jinek as good as Matthijs van Nieuwkerk? After six months we have to be honest. She is not,” he sneers Telegraph column.
The only thing in common is that Eva, like Matthijs, mixes high and low culture, so complicated theater pieces are discussed, but also Yves Berendse. The big problem? “She does ask questions, but they are of a high Libelle standard.”

On paper you have an international top guest, but in the end Eva doesn’t get anything special out of it, Mark thinks. And according to him, Matthijs really did better. “His strength was that he could bombard his guests with juicy details to entice them to reveal things.”
