Playful drums, dancing synths and a breathy baritone: Euroteuro sings about their “Favourite” in their latest single. The song sets an introspective and experimental tone for their upcoming album “Magic”.

We all have people who have had a strong influence on us. They don’t always stay until the end. The farewell to these loved ones is the core of the single “Favourite”. “In everything I see you, I somehow feel you’re here.” The transcendent theme is embedded in a song that sounds more like tapping your feet and floating through dark spaces. The text does not appear sad, but looks back with gratitude and encouragement: “Looking for your spirit, it’s just love that I find.”

Light and shadow

“Favourite” is the first single for Euroteuro’s announced album “Magic”, which will be released on September 25th. It is the first closed project around the musician Peter T. and, as the name suggests, explores the unpredictable magic of making music together. Together with 13 other musicians, the album took shape. Unlike previous albums, however, it is not a collection of individual songs, but a process that increases in complexity and changes as the tracks progress. With the single, Euroteuro already makes it clear: it will be about the really big topics. Loss and hope, death and survival, the dancing of light and shadow.

The album’s lyrics are as two-sided as the themes: With a mixture of English and German, Euroteuro breaks with the expectation in the German-speaking music world that one must be limited to one form of expression. All of the names on the tracklist are one-word titles and jump back and forth between the two languages. A question of indecision or the limitless? “Magic” wants both: to be disorientated and not to be tied down. Influences from New Wave, Neue Deutsche Welle, but also pop permeate the sound.

Euroteuro goes on tour with these experimental tones in autumn and winter. You can find all tour dates here.
