New European champions in Drenthe. The dance group from Arawak Dance Center from Assen won gold during the ELITE Stunt & Dance Championship in Movie Park Germany. Both competition teams from the dance school finished on the podium. Team House of Arawak took the European title in the category International Open Hip Hopwhile team X-EPTION came second in the category International Open Coed Hip Hop.
“These performances are the result of hard work, discipline and passion. Our dancers train intensively and have given everything on stage. The fact that we have won prizes at European level with two teams is extremely special for Assen and for our dance school,” says owner Ramon Arawak.
“We train one day a week, but for three hours in a row,” says Arawak. “We first come up with a complete concept: what do we want to show this season? Then we work out everything, from choreography to positions and appearance.”
The dancers were judged by ten international jury members, specialized in different dance styles such as hip hop, jazz, modern and cheerleading. This included looking at creativity, synchrony and the implementation of the concept.
