The German speed skaters won the bronze medal in the team sprint at the European Championships.
The trio Katja Franzen, Anna Ostlender and Isabel Kraus only had to admit defeat to the victorious home team from Poland and the second-placed Belgians in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, 7.45 seconds behind in 1:34.526 minutes.
The successful dress rehearsal by the trio from DEC Inzell for the Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (February 6th to 22nd) was the Germans’ only podium finish on Friday evening at the European Championships in Poland.
In the individual competition over 3000 m, Ashley Völker (Inzell, 9th) and Melissa Schaefer (Erfurt, 10th) finished in the top ten. Among the men, the German quartet came sixth in the team pursuit over 5000 m.
