European Rap Battle: With ChatGPT against Viktor Orbán

Daniel Freund is a member of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen party and has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019. There he is part of the committee for constitutional questions. In this role, he is considered a harsh critic of the development of the Hungarian state under President Viktor Orbán. When his government apparently failed to send parliament a report on the implementation of anti-corruption measures on March 16, Freund turned to the artificial intelligence ChatGPT. He shared her response to the instruction to write a rap text about the systematic corruption of the Orbán regime on Twitter last Monday (March 20).

The text itself includes the lines “He’s been playing dirty for far too long, has made himself rich by mistake / Between rigged elections and crooked deals, Orbán must be stopped, it’s not enough to appeal.”

An affront by the Hungarian government spokesman Zoltán Kovács didn’t want to let his boss sit on it. In the style of a fair, European competition, he also used the AI for his answer. The slightly longer text wasn’t what he wanted, but it does have a hook.

However, this one says. “Daniel Freund, Daniel Freund, fighter for democracy, he’s a friend” (twice). Kovács used the failed attempt to vent his dissatisfaction with the way the language model worked.

Both politicians have used the days since the short interlude to prepare for the European Council meeting that begins on Thursday (23 March).

Rap lyrics have long been one of the arenas where artificial intelligence is moving into the music industry. At the beginning of February, David Guetta went one step further.
