European Parliament calls for immediate release of Belgian Jean-Jacques Wondo, sentenced to death

In an adopted resolution, the European Parliament “strongly” condemns the death penalty of Jean-Jacques Wondo and the serious violations of the right to a fair trial. They demand his immediate release and urgent access to medical treatment. The Belgian-Congolese soldier was sentenced to death in Kinshasa as an “intellectual perpetrator” of a failed coup in Congo.
