TSV achieved the desired start to the preliminary round of the European League in Group G. The next opponent in the competition is Tatran Presov (Slovakia) at home next Tuesday, and the home game against IK Sävehof (Sweden) follows on November 11th. In Fredericia, assistant coach Heidmar Felixson and sports director Sven-Sören Christophersen once again represented the sick head coach Christian Prokop (gastrointestinal infection) on the sidelines.

“Reckon” quickly gained a clear lead

The Lower Saxony team got off to a strong start to the game in the Middelfart Arena. After a nice pass from Marian Michalczik, who played in the left backcourt, pivot Justus Fischer made it 5-1 (10th). Fredericia’s trainers Jesper Houmark and Michael Wollesen decided not to call a time-out, but that quickly changed – with two easy goals from the guests in direct succession. First, after winning the ball against the Danes who were attacking with a 7:6 majority, Fischer threw it into the empty goal, and shortly afterwards goalkeeper Simon Gade did the same – the score was 7:2 after eleven minutes.

Even after the time-out, Fredericia stuck to the tactical model in attack with an additional field player in exchange for goalkeeper Sander Heieren, who now improved significantly and helped Fredericia get within 8:10 (22nd).

Since the “Rights” were more compact in the 6-0 defense in the final phase of the first half and acted more variably in the offensive, they went into the locker room with a score of 15:11. At Fredericia, ex-Hannover player Evgeni “Effe” Pevnov scored in the first half, but with a long throw he clearly missed the guests’ empty goal.

“Stretch” with strong nerves in the final phase

After Fredericia had shortened the score to 19:21, Rolando Urios, the son of the former Spanish world-class circuit runner of the same name, came into the game for the Danes. Shortly afterwards, the “Recken” had to accept the 22:22 equalizer by Martin Bisgaard (44th).

Six and a half minutes before the final siren, TSV was behind for the first time (26:27). But Joel Birlehm, who came into the game for Gade at the beginning of the second half, kept Lower Saxony in the game with strong saves. And those in front of him took advantage of the opportunities that arose from this.#

Three goals from Fischer and one from Daniel Weber ensured that the “Recken” led 30:28 with two minutes left. With luck and skill we managed to win both points. Weber made everything clear with the 31:29. The most successful TSV professional was Fischer with six goals.

The “Zebras” have to tremble again in the second half in Montpellier. The success is overshadowed by concerns about the national goalkeeper.
