European Handball Championship | Germany: Uwe Gensheimer convinced by the DHB team

The longtime national team captain Uwe Gensheimer sees good chances for a successful future of German handball.

“The conditions for a golden decade are very good, not only for men, but also for women and young people,” said Gensheimer in the “Sport1” interview.

The 35-year-old considers the upcoming home tournaments to be extremely valuable. Not only will the 2024 European Championships and 2027 the World Cup for men take place in Germany. In 2025, the German Handball Federation (DHB) will also host the women’s World Cup together with the Netherlands. In addition, the association was awarded the contract for the Junior World Championships in 2023.

“It’s great for the handball association and sport in general if we can hold the tournaments in our own country.
