European Handball Championship: All followers have arrived – waiting for test results

Bratislava (dpa) – After the Corona outbreak among German handball players, the five national players who were subsequently nominated arrived at the team hotel in Bratislava.

Goalkeeper Johannes Bitter, left winger Rune Dahmke, line runner Sebastian Firnhaber and backcourt players Paul Drux and Fabian Wiede joined the team, as reported by DHB sports director Axel Kromer.

“Everyone has completed their PCR tests and are now waiting for the results, both the newcomers and the delegation that is here,” said the 45-year-old. “We spend the whole day in the room and only bring the food to the room.”

The players can only be used if the (negative) results of the PCR tests are available by the time the final EM preliminary round game kicks off this Tuesday evening (6 p.m. / ZDF). Previously, seven players from the DHB selection in Bratislava had tested positive for Corona. These actors are in isolation.
