European duels Ajax and AZ provide a changed program in the Eredivisie

Due to the placement of Ajax (Champions League) and AZ (Conference League), the KNVB has turned around a number of matches in the Eredivisie. That also has consequences for FC Volendam. The latest match dates and starting times for the World Cup have also been published today.

The first change is for the Alkmaarders in the weekend of 10 and 11 September. AZ will then play against FC Twente on 11 September from 4.45 pm, through the first round of the Conference League. This also applies to October 9, when the kick-off is in Utrecht against the local FC from 2.30 pm.

It is also still uncertain whether the derby against FC Volendam will be played on October 30 or November 9. That will be determined at a later date, because of the relevance of the last group match in the Conference League of AZ.

Ajax

A number of starting times of matches have also been adjusted for Ajax. This is how the Amsterdammers will play against the in Volendam on 8 October from 4.30 pm New Orange. A week later (October 16), Alfred Schreuder’s team gets an extra day of rest after the away game against Napoli in the Champions League.

The same applies to the Amsterdammers as to AZ. If the last group match against Liverpool no longer matters, the match against Vitesse will be played on October 29, otherwise on November 9.

Just before the World Cup

The KNVB has also announced the last two rounds for the World Cup in Qatar. Ajax has to play the penultimate round, because then the team will play against PSV on 6 November. FC Volendam against Feyenoord (2.30 pm) and AZ against RKC Waalwijk (4.45 pm) will be in action on the same day.

AZ will play the last round against PSV on Saturday, November 12 (9 p.m.), while Ajax kicks off earlier in the evening in Emmen (6.45 p.m.). FC Volendam will also close the first half of the season against FC Utrecht (4.30 p.m.) on November 12. Due to the World Cup in Qatar, the Eredivisie will then be suspended until January 6.
