It is no wonder that European Commissioner Frans Timmermans and his chief of cabinet Diederik Samsom are throwing their weight into the fight to merge with GL; they are on the same page against nuclear energy. For GL, that action point was number 1, and Samsom as a former Greenpeace leader will not change that. Within the PvdA there might be support for a more positive view of nuclear energy, see recently former PvdA senator Prof. Rudi Rabbinge in Trouw, but the merger party will be against it.
