The German discus throwers around the Olympic silver medalist Kristin Pudenz fight for the medals at the home European Championships in Munich.

Pudenz (64.25 m) as well as Shanice Craft (Mannheim/62.64 m) and fifth place in the World Championships Claudine Vita (Neubrandenburg/63.51 m) made it through to the final on Tuesday (9:02 p.m.) without any problems .

Defending champion and Europe’s best of the year, Sandra Perkovic, recorded the best distance of the qualification with 65.94 m, the Croatian can win her sixth title in a row. Co-favourite Jorinde van Klinken (Netherlands) missed the direct qualifying distance of 63.50 m, but with 62.18 m she still got the final ticket for the top twelve.

“I’m in good spirits,” said Pudenz, who only needed one throw to qualify and achieved the third-best distance of the day: “There’s definitely still room for improvement. There’s still room for improvement.”

Pudenz had problems with the pressure of expectations at the World Championships in Eugene and disappointed in eleventh place. With her 67.10 m this year, the sports soldier is number two in Europe and also managed three other 66-meter competitions.
