European Championships | Gambetta Fifth in European Shot Put Championship

The shot putters were unable to secure the second medal for the German track and field athletes at the home European Championships in Munich.

As the best German, Sara Gambetta took fifth place with 18.48 meters, almost half a meter short of bronze.

The title went to Jessica Schilder from the Netherlands, third at the World Championships, whose longest shot landed at 20.24 metres.

The Portuguese indoor world champion Auriol Dongmo won silver with 19.82 meters. Julia Ritter (Wattenscheid) finished sixth with 18.29 meters, Katharina Maisch (Gelenau) was eighth with 18.01 meters.
