European Championships: After high jump – heptathlon duo in top ten

After the second competition in the EM heptathlon, the German duo Sophie Weißenberg and Carolin Schäfer is in the top ten.

The Leverkusen woman overtakes the Frankfurter Schäfer, who was ahead of her after the 100 meter hurdles. Weißenberg convinced in the high jump with 1.80 meters, Schäfer jumped 1.74 meters.

This puts Sophie Weißenberg in fourth place for the time being, while the vice world champion from 2017 is tenth. The previously ailing Schäfer had skipped the World Championships in Eugene (USA) and wants to be at least sixth in the Munich final rankings.

She celebrated a good start with a victory in her 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.39 seconds. In the same run, Weißenberg had arrived at 13.72.

The Olympic bronze medalist Emma Oosterwegel was unlucky. The Dutchwoman fell while hurdling and gave up. Nafissatou Thiam is the overall leader. The Belgian finished the high jump early after 2.01 meters to save energy.
