European Championship final at Wembley | Klopp sees England’s women slightly favoured

Coach Jürgen Klopp sees England’s footballers as slightly favored in the final of the European Championship against Germany because of the home field advantage.

“In a sold-out Wembley Stadium with English spectators, it will be a huge challenge for Germany,” said Klopp, “but Germany has a chance.”

In a press round ahead of the English Super Cup – the so-called Community Shield – against champions Manchester City, the manager of FA Cup winners Liverpool added he expected a good final between two intense sides on Sunday. “As much as I love England – my heart will be with the German team,” emphasized the 55-year-old former coach of FSV Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund.

Before the 2-1 semi-final win against France, Klopp wished national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg every success in a video message.

Klopp was almost euphoric about the quality shown at the European Championship. “I really have to say that I love women’s football. The quality of the tournament is amazing,” said the coach. The EM is advertising for women’s football. This had exploded during development in recent years, said Klopp. “Tactically and technically it’s an incredibly high level. The intensity of the games – physically it’s really, really good and I love watching that.”
