It was one-way traffic in the third quarter-final of the European Championship. Belgium had little to offer against the strong Sweden and after a first half without really great opportunities, they went into the dressing room with only two shots towards the goal. In comparison: Sweden sought out Evrard’s goal eighteen times. Sweden thought they would take the lead halfway through the first half after a quick counterattack, but Stina Blackstenius’ goal was disallowed for offside.

Belgium held back in the second half. It almost led to an extension, but in the second minute of stoppage time Linda Sembrant still shot the ball against the ropes and not Belgium but Sweden will take on host country England in the semi-finals.

Tomorrow evening, the Orange Lionesses will play in the last quarterfinals of the European Championship. Opponent is France, the game starts at 9 p.m.
