The Barça hero and team-mate of Superstar Lionel Messi explains emotional that his career will soon end. A title could still wave to say goodbye.
Jordi Alba will soon give up his soccer shoes. The 36 -year -old Spaniard announced on Tuesday on social media to end his active career in the Major League Soccer after the current season.
“It is time to close a significant chapter in my life,” said Alba in a farewell video. He does this “with absolute conviction, with inner fulfillment and with joy”. He also had the feeling of “walking this path with every fiber of my heart”.
The left -back is currently under contract with Inter Miami and plays alongside Lionel Messi. Between 2012 and 2023 Alba played 459 competitive games for Barça, won the Champions League in 2015 and became European champion with Spain in 2012. He played a total of 93 caps.
After Sergio Busquets, Alba is already the second former Barça professional in Miami, who has declared his resignation at the end of the season. In 2023, like Messi, he was moved to Florida. A title could follow for him to say goodbye: Inter Miami is already qualified for the play-offs, the regular season will end in the coming week.
