Europarente: How to invest in and benefit from the Europe-wide pension scheme PEPP

European pension: special features of PEPP

With the Europarente, there is a European market for pension products across all national borders for the first time. Motivation and goal: The European pension is intended to combat poverty in old age in the European Union. To make PEPP even more attractive, EU member states can grant subsidies, such as tax breaks. However, it depends on the country whether and which Europarente subsidies are offered.

Another special feature of this private EU pension is that citizens who move within the European Union can simply take their European pension contract with them. It is no longer absolutely necessary to terminate or change your private pension plan.

A PEPP can be offered by banks, insurance companies, asset managers or fintechs, for example. However, it is assumed that every company complies with the criteria of the European pension regulation. These criteria include, for example, a price cap, high transparency and the option to purchase the product online. Furthermore, flexible payments and changes to other contracts must be possible.
