Fenerbahçe fails to win at home against Lyon. Viktoria Plzen ok with Anderlecht. Bodo/Glimt, Twente and Steaua Bucharest also performed well

Not without worries, Tottenham managed to gain three fundamental points for direct access to the Europa League round of 16, on the Hoffenheim pitch. Porto, however, did not emerge from the quicksand and also lost against Olympiacos at home. Mourinho they had to settle for a 0-0 draw against Lyon, while Viktoria Plzen beat Anderlecht with authority. Bodo/Glimt, Twente and Steaua Bucharest also performed well.

HOFFENHEIM-TOTTENHAM 2-3

During the melee, Tzolakis saves on Galeno, then Pepe misses the target with a curling shot. Porto’s nightmare materializes in the 78th minute: Mouzakitis passes El Khabi, his left-footed shot to the near post is perfect. In the last action before the double whistle, Lyon risks being left with ten men: a full-speed intervention in a tackle by Niakhate, for the referee Sozza it is a red card but at the VAR they call him to the review and he opts for the yellow.

QARABAG-STEAUA BUCHAREST 2-3

The Azeris broke the deadlock after just a minute: from a throw-in, Andrade collected and slalomed into the opposing defense, before beating Tarnovanu. In the 7th minute the balance was immediately restored: corner from the left, captain Sut was all alone at the far post to head the ball. In the 12th minute the referee awarded a penalty to Steaua, then after an on-field review he retraced his steps. At the end of the first half, Cəfərquliyev runs to the left and crosses to the center, Dawa fatally deflects the ball into his own goal for Qarabag’s new lead. In injury time, the Romanians made it 2-2 again with a corner kick, closed by Miculescu at the far post. Steaua’s third goal cannot help but come from the flag, Sut again jumps higher than anyone and the trajectory goes under the crossbar.

VIKTORIA PLZEN-ANDERLECHT 2-0

The match immediately went downhill for the Czechs, thanks to Cerv’s opening goal, a precise shot from outside the area that left Coosemans motionless (3′). Seven minutes later Foket brings down Kalvach in the area, Sulc appears from the spot but the Anderlecht goalkeeper dives and blocks. Adu makes up for it just before the break, with a powerful move that ends with a slide towards the near post.
