The round of 16 duels in the Europa League were drawn in Nyon on Friday afternoon. The three German participants RB Leipzig, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt have caught demanding but feasible tasks.

In the round of 16, the eight group winners of the Europa League, who have home rights in the second leg, meet the eight winners of the play-offs between the group runners-up and the “relegated” Champions League. Clubs from one association cannot meet.

Bayer Leverkusen must prevail against the Serie A fifth Atalanta Bergamo. Eintracht Frankfurt is up against LaLiga third-placed Real Betis Sevilla. RB Leipzig meet Russia’s Spartak Moscow, who are forced to play their home game on a neutral ground after a UEFA decision to attack Ukraine.
The first leg of the Europa League round of 16 will be played on March 9th and 10th, with the second leg taking place a week later on March 17th. The final in Seville, Spain is scheduled for May 18, 2022.
