It ends 90-70 at the Segafredo Arena, with Virtus always in control of the match: the Messina team is arithmetically out of the games. And Shields does not fall within the second half for a groin problem

April 4 – 22:57 – MILAN

The Olimpia play-in dream is infranted in Bologna. A Virtus in control from the first to the last minute brakes the EA7 90-70 and so the Messina team is mathematically out of the games in this Euroleague final. The victory of the fir of benches against the Red Star – direct competitor of Milan – could have guaranteed a chance on the last day of the championship, but tonight the black vu proved unstoppable, dominating the struggle in rebound (36 of the bianconeri against the 25 of the Olympia) and containing the great opponents both inside and outside the perimeter (17/34 from 2 and just 8/22).

Virtus to a thousand

Bologna is not aside: the excellent start of Clyburn burns the Olimpia to the checkpoints and brings the black vu immediately to the command. With 2 points collected after almost 6 ‘of the game, Milan seems to feel all the pressure of the result. The EA7 is non-existent from the arch, not very cynical under the basket and with just 2 baskets from the field at the end of the first quarter remains behind 13 lengths (22-9). In the second period he then thinks of Shengelia to keep the Segafredo in control. The Georgian does what he wants inside the opposing area, both in penetration and shoulders to the basket, and when he is left, space also punishes by the perimeter. Leday and Shields try to shake the Olimpia, but in the meantime Morgan goes up and so the long break Virtus is ahead 44-29.

The Olimpia collapses

In the second half, the matter is further complicated for the Olimpia, which returns to the field without Shields (outside a groin injury) and seems to have remained with his head in the changing rooms, as demonstrated by the different infringements committed naively. On the other hand, there is instead a virtus still electrifying, compact in defense and unleashed in painting with Zizic, which increasingly increase the black and white advantage. Under 23 lengths at the end of the third quarter (65-42), Messina seeks the reaction of nerves from the second lines, but in fact the question is already closed: at the Segafredo Arena the Vu Nere win 90-70 and cancel the residual hopes of Milan to catch the last useful place for the play-in.

Virtus: Morgan 16, Shengelia 14, Clyburn and Zizic 13

Milan: Leday 19, Tonut and Ricci 10
