Played really well, but didn’t win again – the pictures are the same for FC Bayern Basketball in the EuroLeague. On the 21st matchday, Fenerbahce Istanbul narrowly missed out on the victory that would have been so important.

FC Bayern Basketball is not getting anywhere in the EuroLeague. Even after the super close game at Fenerbahce Istanbul, there are only eight wins for the Munich team. The declared goal of taking part in the play-offs has become more distant again after the 91:98 (39:38, 81:81) after extra time. An away win was a possibility for a long time. Only in overtime did the Munich team lose their strength.

Weak start, strong comeback

Even without their center Serge Ibaka, who injured his wrist, the Munich team put in a strong performance as the “team of the hour” in the EuroLeague. However, as is often the case, head coach Pablo Laso’s team didn’t get off to a good start. Fenerbahce quickly led 19:8 and it looked as if the Munich team were being overrun.

But the Munich team fought back, came close again by the quarter break and even equalized (22:22). Afterwards, Sylvain Francisco even gave Munich its first lead. As a result, neither team was able to pull away. More than 20 leadership changes speak for themselves. With a buzzer beater from Carsen Edwards, Bayern took the lead again at the halftime siren (39:38).

Many Change of leadership – Overtime brings the decision

After the initial uncertainty, we particularly liked the strong defense. Only Scottie Wilbekin, who was the Turks’ best scorer in the end with 30 points, couldn’t get the guests under control. Even after the break it remained a close game. For Bayern, the longer the game lasted, Andreas Obst (15 points) and Sylvain Francisco (21) stood out with strong offensive scenes.

Francisco brought Munich into overtime with three free throws. But then the Turks’ greater routine prevailed.
